  Very friendly staff. However, on a recent visit the food was a bit hit and miss. The sweet potato soup starter was ruined by vast amounts of chilli being added. The main of duck was superb.
  
  The selection of desserts was poor, with a choice of 5 dishes based on chocolate or a cheese selection. If you don't fancy chocolate or cheese, you're kind of stumped. The staff however did replace the chocolate sauce on one dish for custard, to go along with the spotted dick, but this was served cold, straight from the fridge. Pretty poor.
  
  The manager didn't charge for either the starter or dessert, but I would have preferred to pay and enjoy all 3 courses.
  
  Overall, the quality of the kitchen staff doesn't match that of the front of house staff.

  Thank you for a lovely evening, just enjoyed a gorgeous three course meal with my wife for £20, ham hock terrine starter was delectable and the chef was very nice to send us the recipe! First class service from warm, friendly waitresses and cosy atmosphere in the place. Genuinely blown away by my gourmet burger, thought there was nothing much complicated about a burger but that was truly something else! My wife had a fried haddock dish which again was unique and large quantity so I shared half of it. Also the brownie to ice cream ratio in my sundae was just right, too many places serve you a big pile of brownie and go stingy on the ice cream so it's too dry.
  
  With all these chains opening up it's great to see food done fresh and local. Will come again!
